By creating conversations, rather than using forms and sending emails or notes into the abyss, adding someone to a CRM and then letting them stale and be forgotten, companies can now engage and qualify a prospect in minutes or even seconds. While the use of bots are common practice here, when used properly, bots can be quite useful. Live chat is typically not conversational marketing. Also, when the chat stops the conversation ends.
